A new year has sprung upon us, and it is also the start of a new decade as well. This is a fresh start for all of us this decade, which means new goals we’d like to see before 2030. It’s also the beginning of a new year, and for anyone who partakes in the new year’s resolution, it’s the start of a yearlong goal that we want to achieve before the end of the year. I am one who likes to set myself new year’s resolutions, because it’s a nice change in what I’ve been doing, and it helps me venture out to either try new things or put more time into something that I’ve been missing. If it wasn’t for last year’s resolution for me, I would’ve never created this blog site, and still be wondering if I should’ve taken the chance on writing.
My personal goal last year was just to be a little more creative. Where it could go from trying to draw, creating a Podcast/YouTube channel, or start up writing. I went with writing, because drawing never really was one of my strong suits. And I “really” hate the sound of my voice, so podcasting or YouTube didn’t seem like the ideal type either. So, I created my blog site about a year ago, and only wrote a few posts for it, but I’m glad that I did take the chance on writing because I wouldn’t have found something that I really enjoy. It’s been nice at nights to just step away from everything, put some music on, and type out what was on my mind at the time.
For this year, I want to keep going at it with my blog and post more than what I did last year. I ended up writing 8 blog posts for the site last year, and I want to shoot for 10 by the end of this year. The topics on what I want to write are there, I just need to limit my time some nights to step away from gaming or TV, and sit down with my laptop and write. Even if it’s just an hour for a few days a week, that will be more time spent on writing than I have been before. I want to keep this site updated with more content frequently, which is why I need to put more time aside for it. So my goal is 10 blog posts, and it’ll be even better if I go more than that.
I also want to be more open about my blog to others, because I have been very self-conscious about my writing the past year. My fiancé knows that I have a blog, but I have yet to even show her it because I’ve been too scared to know what she thinks of it, and the same thing goes for my friends as well. It’s a bad habit that I keep around, and it definitely affects the amount I write, which hurts the chances of what could possibly be. For this year, I would like to kick away that self-conscious feeling, and to not be afraid to show my friends and family my writing.
Aside from my personal resolution, I did do one last year for my hobby on gaming, and that was to play more of the looter shooter style games. The games that would fall under that category are Destiny, The Division, Borderlands, and much more. It’s unfortunate that Xbox and PlayStation both didn’t do a year in review for 2019, because I wanted to see if those games made it as my top played games for that year. Those games I would have never really played before but making that my goal last year brought me new games to get excited for when more like them come out. From the exotic drops, to group activities, I’ve had a blast playing the game from that list, and I’m glad that I took a chance on these games.
Last year, I tried out games that I never really played before and ended becoming a fan of. This year, I wanted to go back and spend more time into a genre that I’ve played before and that’s MMORPGs. I spent a lot of time in Elder Scrolls Online back when Morrowind was the latest expansion, and I really missed the excited I had with the game. Plus, I’ve been in an Elder Scrolls Online community for quite a while now, and I would like to be more active with that community. I also want to give Final Fantasy XIV another shot, because I dropped off before I hit the expansion storylines. And from what people have told me, that’s where the game starts to get so much better. With that, I would like to at least get to the Heavensward expansion in the game and see for myself if I have been missing out on Final Fantasy XIV.
This year’s goals that I have set for myself, I have thought of maybe combining both of them and find a way to achieve both goals at the same time. With writing and playing MMO’s, I can create a bunch of content for this site. The ideas that I have thought of were fanfictions, a story based on my characters journey in the game, or just a periodic update on the game and my review on what’s been going on. It’s still a rough draft on an idea for me, but it definitely would be more content on this site for sure.
The decade is already starting off with new changes coming in my life, as I’ll be married by the end of 2020 to my beautiful fiancé! And there are a few goals that I would like to achieve by the end of the 2029, which I should have more than enough time to do for sure. Buying a house is going to be the biggest priority for us down the road, because we want to start a family fairly soon, and as much as we like our new apartment that we are in, we don’t see ourselves raising a child here at all. After our wedding, we are more than likely going to be house hunting and finding a home that we will officially start our family in.
I have mentioned my goals on writing for this year, but for this decade I really want to expand from blog posts to storytelling. Just building my own world, creating the people that I want and having a story for them is something that I’ve wanted to try for quite some time now. There’s been a few files I’ve made lying around that has a few paragraphs in them that I started, but it fell flat so far, and I want to pick that up and get back at it again. I’ve been inspired of wanting to write my own story from the character Rome on the show called A Million Little Things. His passion for wanting to write and to tell his story is how I want to see myself this decade with writing.
The last thing for me to achieve this decade is to live a healthier lifestyle again. Last decade I’ve let the alcohol, the bad eating habits, and lack of exercise get the worst of me. I ended the 2000 decade at probably 180 lbs., and ended the 2010 decade at around 250 lbs., which needs to change right away. I don’t want to wait until I hit a life-threatening situation with my health for me to change my lifestyle, so I rather take care if it before it ever does. I’ve been starting on the healthier lifestyle with recently going to the gym after work and changing what we’ve been eating during the week. It’s a step in the right direction and I want to keep walking down that path.
To everyone that has a new year’s resolution, I wish for the best and that you are able to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. Either big or small, it’s always fun to change things up with your life on these goals, because you may end of loving or hating what you have tried to do. The fact that you tried it should always be a great thing, because you probably wouldn’t have tried before if it were not for wanting a clean start on the new year. I look forward to the outcome of this year for me, and to see if I really do keep my word here. I do want to thank you for taking the time to reading my blog post, and here’s to 2020!
